With chef-driven original eateries, flavors from around the globe and no shortage of South Florida atmosphere, West Palm Beach (not to be confused with its glamorous cousin Palm Beach across the Intracoastal) is a top foodie destination on its own. Prepare your palate for a grand tour of almost every dish the Orchid City has to offer, ranging from classic chicken ‘n’ waffles and watermelon sushi to the perfect slice of pizza and a rockstar’s cocktail inside an Airstream. Here’s our favorite fare for any time of the day.

Brunch

Batch New Southern Kitchen & Tap

223 Clematis St.

Batch Southern Kitchen & Tap is has a rustic vibe and a menu of hearty, home-style meals that may require a post-brunch nap. The starter portions are generous, and the standout pecan cinnamon rolls deliver a mouthful of sweet molasses and crunchy pecans with every bite. For something savory, try the chicken ‘n’ waffles, with a twist—the chicken is brined in sweet tea and the waffles are made with cheddar cornbread batter. The restaurant also employs a “garden-to-glass” philosophy, where the juices, sodas and bitters are all made in-house with ingredients sourced from regional farms. There’s local beer on tap (brewed in Pompano Beach and Boca Raton), and weekend brunch service comes with your choice of bottomless sangria, mimosas or bellinis.

More Beach Brunch Spots

  • Stop by Pura Vida for health-conscious omelets, breakfast sandwiches and fresh-baked pastries
  • Hungry for a bit of nostalgia? Howley’s is an old-school diner with hotcakes, French toast and biscuits and gravy on the menu.

Lunch

Planta

700 S Rosemary Ave., Suite 142

Recently opened in 2021 as part of the revitalization of The Square, West Palm Beach’s downtown entertainment and retail district, Planta is just a five-minute walk from the Brightline train station and there’s lots to love on the 100% vegan and plant-based menu. For a midday meal, try their Florida-inspired sushi—a spicy tuna roll made with watermelon, avocado and toasted coconut. Their spicy lumaconi pasta made with tomato rose sauce is tender and fresh, and the bang bang broccoli and croquetas made with mushroom bacon are crowd favorites. On Wednesdays, uncork half-priced bottles of wine all day. Sip and savor outside on the patio lounge, among lush greenery and under radiant sunshine, setting the scene for a tropical Florida oasis.

Other Lunchtime Eateries

A Dressed-Down Dinner

Adrienne’s Pizzabar

378 S Rosemary Ave.

The second location of the popular Manhattan eatery Adrienne’s Pizzabar is always busy—and for good reason. The restaurant sets itself apart from the other pizza joints in West Palm with its artisan square pies, delectable dough and perfectly crispy edges. A 60-foot bar counter, soaring ceilings and wall-to-wall windows make the dining room feel airy and bright. Order Adrienne’s signature original Sicilian or smoked ham pan pizzas, or the mouthwatering pork meatballs and the light and creamy ravioli for some variation. Our advice? Grab two pies—one for dinner and the other for the road. There are few things better than leftover pizza.

Laidback Dinner Options

  • City Cellar Wine Bar & Grill overs land and sea with entrees like chicken schnitzel, blue crab crusted sea bass and bourbon street skirt steak.
  • The dishes at the Avocado Grill includes shrimp paella and spiced lamb sliders along with a grilled avocado appetizer, of course.

An Indulgent Dinner

Overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway, Spruzzo is the perfect place for a date night, celebratory meal or a treat-your-self kind of night. The elevated Mediterranean menu boasts fare like lamb pappardelle, BBQ charred octopus and crisp calamari. Other popular dishes are the paella stew and bucatini paired with local grouper. Set on the rooftop of the downtown boutique hotel The Ben, this restaurant is decked out with white cushioned lounge seating, a 360-degree covered bar and a fire pit for winding down after dinner, best enjoyed with a Saint Tropez martini in hand.

  • Dine on local mahi mahi and lobster ravioli at Florie’s, helmed by Michelin-starred chef Mauro Colagreco.
  • Choose from a dozen different kinds of homemade pasta at Il Bellagio, a fixture in West Palm Beach for over 20 years.
