In Northeast Florida, holiday weekends call for a place where the days stretch long, the ocean sets the rhythm, and there’s just enough activity to keep every generation entertained. At Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, the historic oceanfront resort just south of Jacksonville, that balance comes naturally. From sunrise beach walks and spa treatments to afternoons on the golf courses or tennis courts, the hours unfold with coastal ease.

When Memorial Day and Fourth of July arrive, the resort takes on an extra buzz, with beach games, live music, and festive traditions set against the backdrop of the sweeping Atlantic shoreline.

“Ponte Vedra Inn & Club makes holiday weekends simple by offering something for every generation in one oceanfront setting,” says General Manager Michael Gordon. Here families can spend time together on the beach while also enjoying onsite offerings and nearby excursions to Jacksonville or historic St. Augustine. “This variety allows guests to shape their stay at their own pace, whether that means a structured schedule or quiet time to unwind.”

Find Your Holiday Rhythm

With several restaurants across the property providing everything from casual beachside fare to refined evening meals, dining remains a highlight at Ponte Vedra Inn & Club. But Gordon notes many guests quickly discover that spa days, tee times and tennis matches often shape the long weekend itinerary.

“Many begin their long weekend by settling into relaxation at the spa, where treatments, peaceful spaces, and poolside dining encourage guests to ease into vacation mode,” he says. With more than 100 treatment options and seasonal specialties, the nationally recognized spa makes it easy to unwind. The spa also offers its own cafe and drink menu, a sauna, steam room, and Jacuzzi.

As the weekend unfolds, the focus often shifts to the outdoors. Tennis players of all ages can sharpen their serve at the Racquet Club, the Official Tennis Club of the ATP World Tour, where 12 Har-Tru Hydro Courts host everything from private lessons and clinics to pre-arranged matches. Shaded courtside pavilions provide a comfortable place to watch the action, while the club’s teaching professionals help players of all skill levels refine their game.

Meanwhile, golfers have two renowned championship courses to explore. The Par-71 Ocean Course features beautiful views, expansive fairways, and strategically placed bunkers, while the Par-70 Lagoon Course weaves through a landscape of waterways and undulating fairways. “Together, these outdoor experiences offer balance, restoration, and a little friendly competition for a holiday weekend,” says Gordon.

Guests can also expand their itinerary with a visit to sister property, The Lodge & Club, accessible via a complimentary shuttle service. While Ponte Vedra Inn & Club’s pools are under construction, visitors can enjoy The Lodge & Club’s two pools, three dining concepts, and more oceanfront amenities throughout their stay.

Of course, the beach remains the heart of the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club experience. “Guests can sit back under an umbrella to soak in the view or take advantage of something more active like paddleboarding, cycling down the beach, and surfing. Our beaches offer a great balance of calm and adventure,” Gordon said. Plus during holiday weekends, the resort dials up the programming with special celebrations, themed food and drinks, and family-friendly events to ensure there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

“Each year, we introduce new activations and guest favorites for holiday weekends,” says Gordon. “This year, we have some exciting events planned for Memorial Day weekend and to celebrate America’s 250th this Fourth of July.”

Memorial Day weekend brings a daily beach party at The Surf Club, where guests enjoy beach games,DJ music, and interactive family activities throughout the afternoon. Fourth of July festivities begin early with a sunrise bagpipe performance on the beach, followed by breakfast selections from the Sandpiper Food Truck. Later in the day, a sandcastle-building contest invites guests to compete for prizes in patriotic and creative categories, while a lineup of DJs, games, crafts, and themed entertainment keep the beach buzzing.

“These activations create a celebratory atmosphere while still allowing guests to enjoy the natural beauty of the beach,” adds Gordon.

It’s the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club’s signature nostalgic charm—paired with small touches that feel both personal and spontaneous—that keep guests returning every year. “Whether it’s a surprise ice cream pop-up on the beach or festive themed experience,” says Gordon, “our team goes above and beyond to make holiday weekends special so families can create memories that last a lifetime.”
