Is it just us, or does winter seem to breeze by in a flurry of festivity? With a wealth of seasonal festivals showcasing the beauty of life in Florida, there are countless ways to keep your calendar brimming. Unsurprisingly, Martin County—one of the Sunshine State’s most coveted coastal gems—offers an impressive lineup of events designed to capture the spirit of the season.

Home to over 100,000 acres of pristine parks and miles of unspoiled coastline, Martin County draws visitors near and far, lured by its natural splendor. Winter here is no exception. “There’s always something exciting happening in Martin County,” says Nerissa Okiye, Martin County’s tourism director. “These events give visitors a true taste of our small-town charm and provide authentic opportunities to connect with locals.”

Events On the Water

With its prime location between the Atlantic Ocean, the St. Lucie River, and Lake Okeechobee, Martin County is a paradise for water enthusiasts. It’s no wonder a tidal wave of boat-centric events is about to hit.

Dec. 7-8, the Junior Olympic Sailing Festival blows into Jensen Beach, showcasing talented young athletes competing for top honors. Hosted at the U.S. Sailing Center, this national regatta series will transform the Indian River Lagoon into a vibrant racecourse where skill and determination collide.

If dazzling lights and holiday cheer are more your speed, don’t miss the Martin County Christmas Boat Parade on Dec. 14. This luminous flotilla, adorned with twinkling lights and festive decor, glides down the St. Lucie River from Manatee Pocket to Flagler Park in Downtown Stuart. The free event promises a magical evening of holiday spirit for the entire family.

In the New Year, the Stuart Boat Show returns for its 51st year on Jan. 10-12, bringing together more than 205 exhibitors and hundreds of boats, from nimble 12-foot skiffs to opulent 90-foot yachts. As the Treasure Coast’s premier boat show, it’s a must-see for anyone seeking the latest in motor yachts, cruisers, speedboats and fishing vessels.

Arts and Culture

Martin County’s flourishing arts scene is another treasure trove of experiences. From culinary delights to fine art, the area serves up inspiration at every turn. Kick off December with Taste of Jensen on Dec. 3. Held under the glow of holiday lights in Downtown Jensen Beach, this beloved culinary event offers a mouthwatering array of samples from local restaurants, each vying for top honors in a friendly competition judged by festival-goers.

In February, creativity takes center stage. The Hobe Sound Festival of the Arts, Feb. 1-2, transforms Dixie Highway into an open-air gallery featuring life-size sculptures, dazzling paintings and one-of-a-kind jewelry. This free event invites aesthetes to wander among booths showcasing works from nationally renowned artists.

Not to be outdone, Stuart’s ArtsFest lights up Memorial Park Feb. 8-9. Named a “Signature Event of the Southeast” by the Southeast Tourism Society, this lively festival is a celebration of local culture, fine art and hands-on creativity. With more than 10,000 visitors, the two-day affair boasts art exhibitions, culinary experiences, family activities and live performances in the heart of Downtown Stuart.

Martin County’s charm isn’t limited to marquee events—it shines year-round through its recurring community gatherings. The Elliott Museum’s new exhibit “UFOs: Denial-Disclosure-Discernment,” Dec. 1-Aug. 31, delves into extraterrestrial mysteries, inviting visitors to uncover tales of sightings and alleged government coverups.

Live music lovers can groove to weekly tunes at Jammin’ Jensen, a mini festival that takes place every Thursday evening (except Thanksgiving Day) in downtown Jensen Beach. The free event features musicians, as well as local artists and street vendors.

Sunday-fun-days are equally as lively with Market on Main and Rock’n Riverwalk, both offering live music and curated goods along the waterfront. For art aficionados, the First Friday Art Walk in the Creek District showcases monthly celebrations of local talent, live performances and culinary delights. Meanwhile, eco-adventurers can immerse themselves in year-round natural wonder through Explore Natural Martin’s guided eco-tours. And don’t miss the Sunset Concerts in the Gallery, held every second Tuesday at the Court House Cultural Center, spotlighting an array of musical talent.
