Flamingle: Code Names
Pitbull’s rise from Mr. 305 to Mr. Florida (the state’s tourism ambassador) inspired us to tap our own area-code moguls.

Dr. James Andrews
Orthopedic surgeon
“Dr. 850”
He’s been called the most important man in sports and one of the world’s richest doctors. Through his Andrews Institute Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in Gulf Breeze (near Pensacola), Dr. Andrews has treated thousands of top high school, collegiate and professional athletes, with a patient list that’s a veritable who’s who of sports, including Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus and Shaquille O’Neal. An advocate of injury prevention, Andrews encourages parents to let young players take three to four months off a particular sport to allow their bodies to heal. The future of orthopedics according to Andrews? Biologics or stem cell therapy.
Mindy Grossman
CEO of HSN, Inc.
“Ms. 727”
It’s been 10 years since she left Nike and swooshed in to resuscitate Home Shopping Network, transforming a brand known for hooking retirees on sell-a-vision into a TV and online retail empire with a direct to consumer portfolio of $4 billion. Now fueled by chic infomercials with celebrity-endorsed products, HSN has stars like Keith Urban, Serena Williams and Nicki Minaj pitching guitars, clothing and perfume to millions. The St. Petersburg-based boss has paved a path for other female chiefs. In fact, HSN, Inc. is among the largest donors in Florida to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.
Gen. Ann Dunwoody
Four-Star General
“Gen. 813”
Named the first female four-star general in the United States Armed Forces in 2008, the retired military icon and Tampa resident recently put author on her list of triumphs. A Higher Standard: Leadership Strategies from America’s First Female Four-Star General (Da Capo Press, 2015) has been added to the ultimate book club—the University of Florida’s Common Reading Program. This fall, Gator freshmen will study the story of Dunwoody’s rise through the military, which she says has evolved into “a band of brothers and sisters.”
ShaHid Khan
Jacksonville Jaguars Owner
“Mr. 904”
Known for his handlebar-mustached smile and 95.3 meter Lurssen yacht, Kismet, the Pakistani-born billionaire is a force of economic invigoration in the River City. This summer Khan, an automotive parts industry tycoon, will commence plans for a 5,000-seat amphitheater and multi-use covered Flex Field, as an extension of the Jaguars’ EverBank Stadium (outfitted in 2014 with the world’s largest scoreboards and swanky swimming pools). This year, “Shad,” as locals call him, promises his “best team” since purchasing the Jags in 2012.
Melania Trump
Potential FLOTUS
“Mrs. 561”
It was Marjorie Merriweather Post who envisioned her Mar-a-Lago estate as a presidential tropical escape in the ’20s, but current resident Melania Trump might actually reign over the Winter White House. Equal parts entrepreneur, stay-at-home mom, country club queen and supermodel political spouse, the part-time Palm Beach citizen plays tennis and golf, speaks five languages and started a caviar-infused skincare line and a jewelry line. Melania wed Donald Trump at Bethesda-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in Palm Beach in 2005, and has said that if she became FLOTUS, she would model herself after Jackie Kennedy, who also had PB ties.
